Wolverhampton Wanderers are planning for life without Adama Traore but the Molineux hierarchy would rather cash-in on the winger instead of agreeing to a player exchange, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Bruno Lage - who was appointed as Wolves' head coach last summer - could look to freshen up his squad ahead of next season and Traore is among those expected to leave the West Midlands outfit.

What's the latest news involving Traore?

Traore secured a move away from Molineux in the final days of the January transfer window, with him sealing a loan switch to former club Barcelona and the agreement including the option of a £29million permanent transfer.

Although the 26-year-old has been productive in the final third of the pitch since heading back to the Nou Camp, there are doubts over whether he will remain with the Catalan giants.

According to Spanish sources, Barcelona have no intention of paying the pre-agreed £29million fee to ensure Traore remains with the club beyond the end of the season.

It has emerged that the wide-man could join Tottenham Hotspur if he does not stay with his boyhood club.

Spurs were understood to be edging towards a £20million deal for Traore before Barcelona hijacked the move in January.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Traore?

O'Rourke believes Wolves are expecting Traore to leave the club, whether that be for Barcelona or elsewhere, in the summer.

However, following reports claiming Wolves have reached an agreement with Barcelona over a swap deal involving Francisco Trincao remaining at Molineux, the journalist reckons the West Midlands side will not be interested in a player exchange.

Instead, he reckons Traore's parent club will be eager to recoup a sizeable fee for his services.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "I think they're planning for life without Traore. But they're maybe not too keen to do a player exchange. They'll probably want the money up front for any potential transfer."

How has Traore performed for Wolves?

Wolves forked out a club-record fee of £18million to prise Traore away from Championship side Middlesbrough in 2018.

The eight-cap Spain international has gone on to find the back of the net 11 times and lay on a further 18 assists in 154 appearances for the club.

Although he appears to be on his way out of Molineux, Traore is clearly highly-regarded by Lage as the Portuguese labelled him as a 'top player' during the early stages of his reign.
