Chelsea were embarrassed by Brentford in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues went into the game as the favourites but they succumbed to a heavy 4-1 defeat.

Chelsea took the lead in the 47th minute through Antonio Rudiger.

But three Brentford goals in 10 minutes, courtesy of Vitaly Janelt (2) and Christian Eriksen, turned the game on its head.

Yoane Wissa then completed the scoring in the 87th minute as Brentford picked up all three points.

Chelsea may have been defeated heavily, but Rudiger's opener deserves some appreciation.

The German defender seems to attempt an audacious 40-yard effort almost every game. They never come off.

That is until today.

Rudiger stormed forward and had a go from 40 yards. He made perfect contact as his effort clipped off the post and into the net.

It was a rocket and you can watch it below...

What a finish. According to Opta, per Goal's Nizaar Kinsella, Rudiger's effort was from 39.6 yards out, making it Chelsea's longest range goal in the Premier League for 15 years.

The reaction from Chelsea's players said it all. Kai Havertz and Mason Mount both had their hands on their heads as they couldn't believe it.

Rudiger then produced a brilliant celebration as he pulled a funny face and sprinted to Thomas Tuchel.

Unfortunately, the goal meant nothing in the grand scheme of things as Chelsea lost 4-1.

Still, it's surely a contender for Premier League goal of the season.

Thomas Tuchel ripped into his side after the game as he accused them of 'stopping defending'.

He said after the game, per the Mirror: “Nobody saw it coming, especially after going 1-0 ahead. It was very untypical of us. But we stopped defending. We were not aware of enough of the danger, were sloppy with the defending and got punished.

"They made the most of it in those 10 minutes. Right after their third goal we had 10 minutes where we had big, big chances and we missed them. They were lucky and clinical enough to get three goals. We did not defend like it is needed to in the Premier League and got punished."

"Maybe we thought it was already done and we got punished in 10 minutes. In general we allowed too many shots and in general we lacked energy.

"We looked mentally tired which is normal after being around the world. After scoring we forgot we still had 40 minutes to play. I think it was deserved we took the lead."
