At WWE WrestleMania 38 night one, Cody Rhodes made his highly-anticipated return to the company to face Seth Rollins.Cody ended up making his WWE return at the biggest show of the year, in a segment and subsequent match with the former WWE Champion. On this week's episode of WWE Raw, it was announced that Seth Rollins would have a match at WrestleMania with a 'mystery opponent' picked by Vince McMahon, which ended up being Cody.

This is the first time that Cody has appeared in a WWE ring in six years, after being granted his release in 2016.

Rhodes' last WrestleMania appearance came at the 2016 show as Stardust, which, by chance, also took place at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Since leaving WWE six years ago, Rhodes has gone on to perform in promotions all over the world, but notably helped formed All Elite Wrestling in 2019 alongside Tony Khan.

Rhodes left AEW, where he was one of the Executive Vice Presidents, in February 2022, and rumours of a return to WWE started shortly afterwards.

Many fans initially didn't believe that Rhodes would be heading back to WWE, after essentially helping form the company's biggest competitors since WCW in the 1990s.

In fact, there have been so many conflicting reports about Cody's status over the last few months, but he's now back in WWE.

WWE will likely be promoting the Raw after WrestleMania as when Cody will be cutting his first promo, so make sure you stay tuned to that one.
