WWE fans went wild last night as one of the greats returned to the ring for the first time in 19 years.

Stone Cold Steve Austin made his hotly anticipated comeback to an electric atmosphere, receiving a deafening cheer and a standing ovation from the packed arena of almost 80,000 fans.

Austin went onto to win his match against Kevin Owens, who called him out for a No Holds Barred match-up.

Six-time champion Austin finished him with his iconic Stone Cold Stunner and capped off his victory with a beer.

It truly was a perfect night for The Rattlesnake, and it all started with one hellacious pop when the iconic glass shattered, signalling his arrival.

Just listen to the noise in the videos below, including some fan footage from talkSPORT's Alex McCarthy.

The 57-year-old last climbed into the WWE ring in 2003, at WrestleMania 19 where he was beaten by fellow icon The Rock.

The insane reception was even sweeter, as this year’s showpiece event took place in his home state of Texas.

“You just love the crowd, love the crowd.

“You live and die by the crowd, they are so faithful, so loyal, so rambunctious,” Austin said. “They’re behind everything you do.

“I give the biggest shoutout to the crowd.”

Austin’s remarkable comeback crowned off an entertaining WrestleMania that saw numerous shocks and twists along the way.

Cody Rhodes made his own comeback, and YouTuber Logan Paul also impressed fans with his outing.

With Stone Cold giving us all some nostalgia, we hope the Hall of Fame inductee will be back in the ring soon.
