British MMA fighter Manny Akpan produced one of the KOs of the Year during his Cage Warriors 136 fight with Connor Hitchens.

Akpan knocked out his fellow Brit with a sensational spinning wheel kick in the second round with just seconds remaining.

The UFC hopeful, who earned a new contract with a spectacular first-round TKO in March 2021, narrowly missed Hitchens with a right uppercut before timing his movement perfectly to land the stunning kick flush on his chin.

The kick sent Hitchens crashing to the canvas on all fours, prompting Akpans to follow up with a couple of strikes on the ground for good measure before referee Harry Selby called a halt to proceedings.

Cage Warriors shared the footage which quickly went viral on social media.

Posted on the promotion's official Twitter account, the caption reads: "MANNY AKPAN WITH A HIGHLIGHT REEL KO!

"A crazy back and forth fight ends in stunning fashion at Cage Warriors 136."

Manny Akpan is currently 4-1 in his professional MMA career

Akpan was buzzing with adrenaline after the victory, doing a lap of the cage in celebration before going over to console his conquered foe.

Black Death's highlight-reel KO of Hitchens marked his fourth victory inside the cage.

Unfortunately for him however he was ineligible to receive a Performance of the Night bonus as he came in a couple of pounds overweight.

Akpan is 2-1 during his current stint in Cage Warriors, which began in March 2021.

Manny Akpan switched Connor Hitchens' lights off in stunning fashion

The featherweight prospect suffered his first career defeat after a submission loss at the hands of Scottish warrior Keir Harvie in his previous outing at Cage Warriors 125.

He now boasts a record of 4-1, with two of those victories coming by way of knockout.

Akpan currently trains at SBG Manchester alongside recently retired British MMA veteran Matt Inman, current Bellator MMA contender Saul Rogers and Jack Cartwright to name but a few.

He told reporters after the fight that he knew he was capable of pulling off something pretty special, and he did precisely just that.

Akpan said: “I just know it.

“I’ve got a good killer instinct.

"I’d see that, I could find his head, caught him a couple of times.

"[So] I knew I could find his head. So I just thought when I get some space, I’m taking his head off and I did that.”
