Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura ‘seems like a good professional’ after waiting patiently for his opportunity to shine, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 29-year-old has struggled for game time in recent weeks after falling down the pecking order under manager Antonio Conte but has not caused any unrest in the dressing room as a result.

What is the latest news involving Moura?

Moura arrived at Tottenham with a sizeable reputation after completing a £23 million move from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018.

Since then, he has been a solid performer for Spurs without ever cementing his place in the starting XI, registering 38 goals and 26 assists in 195 appearances across all competitions.

And the Brazil international began the current campaign in favour under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo, featuring from the off in eight of the capital club’s opening 10 Premier League fixtures.

The arrival of Conte as Espirito Santo’s replacement didn’t initially see Moura drop to the bench but the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski in the winter transfer window did.

Moura has failed to start a top-flight game since 13th February, and with Kulusevski racking up seven goal contributions in his opening 10 league outings for Spurs, it may be a while until he gets another opportunity to impress.

What has O’Rourke said about Moura?

In total, the South American has received just 37 minutes of action in Tottenham’s last four games.

However, there has been no speculation circling around possible discontent on Moura’s side, and O’Rourke has praised his attitude on the back of that.

He told GiveMeSport: “He's a good player, he doesn't seem to upset things either if he's not in the team. We don't hear any reports of him unsettling things, and it seems like he's a good professional.”

Can Spurs finish in the top four?

Moura and his teammates will be focused on trying to achieve a top-four finish this season, and recent results have made that possibility more likely.

While Spurs ran out 5-1 winners against Newcastle United over the weekend, Arsenal fell to a shock defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, while Manchester United drew at home to Leicester City.

That means Conte’s charges are now sitting in fourth place, four points ahead of the Red Devils and West Ham and ahead of the Gunners on goal difference, albeit having played a game extra.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham can qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2019/20, but Moura will surely be hoping he can play his part in a strong end to the season.
