Tottenham: Clubs 'would be interested' in signing £25m Spurs attacker

Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura would generate interest from clubs both home and abroad were he to leave this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 29-year-old has found first-team opportunities hard to come by in recent weeks following the January arrival of Dejan Kulusevski, and it remains to be seen whether he can force his way back into Antonio Conte’s plans on a more regular basis.

What is the latest news involving Moura?

Reports from Football Insider have recently claimed that Spurs have no plans to sell the Brazilian in the upcoming summer transfer window, and that a Lilywhites source had insisted Moura remained a key part of the first-team squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The winger has had to make do with a place on the bench in recent weeks given the sparkling form enjoyed by teammate Kulusevski, who joined from Serie A giants Juventus a few months ago.

The Swede has hit the ground running in north London, scoring an impressive two goals and providing five assists in just ten Premier League games, including setting up one in the 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle this past Sunday.

What has O’Rourke said about Moura’s future at Spurs?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke has admitted that should Moura begin to feel unhappy at the club, he would certainly generate a lot of interest from clubs both in England and abroad.

He said: “I’m sure Lucas Moura at this stage of his career wants to be playing regular first-team football. If he were to be unsettled or unhappy, I’m sure there would be interested clubs from home and abroad in somebody like Lucas.”

Conte’s big Moura headache

While Moura may not be starting match week-in and week-out recently – in fact, he hasn’t completed the full 90 minutes since January 19 against Leicester and has totalled just 37 minutes of football in the past five Premier League games – he remains someone who can change games in an instant.

Spurs fans of course will have very fond memories of his role in that famous comeback win over Ajax to secure their dramatic success in reaching the Champions League final just a few seasons ago.

Can you name this obscure player?

In total, he’s managed 38 goals and provided another 26 assists in 195 games across all competitions for Spurs since joining in a £25m deal from French giants PSG back in January 2018.

With Spurs very much in the hunt for Champions League football next season, Conte will know the importance of having real strength in depth to compete on multiple fronts.

While Moura may have lost his first-team place to Kulusevski, having the option of being able to rotate with him, or giving the Swede a rest on certain occasions is a major string in the bow for the Italian boss.

It’s exactly why the Spurs manager has a real conundrum on his hands when it comes to dealing with Moura’s future at the club.
