Benfica vs Liverpool: Fabinho failed when trying to copy Konate's goal celebration

Liverpool faced off against Benfica in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday evening.

The Reds went into the game in Portugal as the heavy favourites.

Jurgen Klopp made a number of changes from the side that beat Watford on Saturday.

Ibrahima Konate was one player that came into the side and he broke the deadlock at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Andy Robertson swung in a menacing corner in the 17th minute and Konate rose highest to produce an unstoppable header. Watch the goal below…

The Frenchman was delighted after scoring his first goal for the club.

Konate ran towards the corner and did a perfect knee-slide. He was closely tailed by Fabinho, who attempted to do the same.

However, the Brazilian miserably failed when trying to pull off the knee-slide. Watch his fail below…

Ouch. How did he fail that badly?!

Fortunately, Fabinho didn’t suffer an injury and got back to his feet unscathed with a massive smile on his face.

Liverpool doubled their lead in the 34th minute.

Trent Alexander-Arnold produced a phenomenal through-ball to find Luis Diaz inside Benfica’s box.

The Colombian found Sadio Mane who had the easy task of putting the ball in an empty net.

There were no further goals as Liverpool held a two-goal lead into half-time.

It’s still early days in the tie but it seems Liverpool already have one foot into the semi-finals.
