West Ham United are ‘scouting’ Anderlecht star Josh Cullen and mulling over whether to seal his return to the London Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Hammers boss David Moyes failed to welcome any reinforcements to the club during the winter window, but the summer will give him another opportunity to lure fresh faces to east London.
What’s the latest news involving Cullen?
Cullen only left West Ham for Belgian giants Anderlecht in 2020, but it appears a return to his former club could already be on the cards.
That is because, according to TEAMtalk, the Hammers have been keeping abreast of his development ahead of a potential return to London less than two years on from his £500,000 departure.
The report suggests Cullen has become one of the most dominant midfielders in the Belgian top flight, leaving Anderlecht facing a battle to retain his services.
However, West Ham are not Cullen’s only suitors as Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Leeds United, Burnley and Norwich City – along with Championship outfits Fulham and Sheffield United – are also mulling over whether to seal his return to England.
It comes after Cullen appeared to claim he would not be heading back to West Ham in the not-too-distant future, with the central midfielder insisting his previous spell is ‘a closed chapter’ in his career despite being a lifelong fan of the Hammers.

What has Dean Jones said about Cullen?
Jones understands that West Ham boss Moyes has been tracking Cullen despite giving the go-ahead for him to leave the London Stadium less than 24 months ago.
The transfer insider believes a return to familiar surroundings may not be outside the realms of possibility for the Anderlecht ace.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I was told they are keeping an eye on him. They have scouted him again and he could be someone they look to.”
Why is Cullen of interest to West Ham?
Having come through the ranks at West Ham, Cullen is someone those working behind-the-scenes and a host of players currently on the pitch know well.
The 26-year-old may have been restricted to just 10 appearances for the Hammers, but he has gone on to enjoy 223 outings over the course of his senior club career.
Moyes already knows he will see at least one central midfielder depart at the end of the campaign, with captain Mark Noble calling time on his West Ham career.
Cullen could potentially be drafted in as a replacement for Noble, but there is no doubting that the 16-cap Republic of Ireland international would be a huge loss for Anderlecht.
