Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is likely to cost Manchester United or any other interested club "at least £50m", according to transfer insider Pete O'Rourke.

Reports suggest that the 25-year-old is being eyed up but Erik ten Hag, who looks set to become United's next manager.

What is the latest news involving Neves?

According to The Sun, Ten Hag will make signing Neves his No.1 priority if he is appointed as Ralf Rangnick's successor.

And that now looks like a strong possibility, with multiple outlets, including BBC Sport, reporting that the Ajax boss has moved closer to landing the position in the Old Trafford dugout.

It is not the first time Neves has been linked with United, as The Sun also reported in January that the Red Devils were determined to sign him during the winter transfer window.

Last summer, there was talk about Arsenal being interested in the Portuguese midfielder, too, so he quite clearly has his admirers.

What has O'Rourke said about Neves?

O'Rourke has described Neves as a "quality player" and is not expecting him to come cheap this summer if Wolves do decide to sell.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: "I think for me, in the current transfer market, Ruben Neves, you're probably looking at at least £50m for him, maybe more.

"I think he's proven at Wolves he's a top midfield operator. He can play all across midfield; he can play an attacking role or a defensive midfield role. For me, quality player on the ball, scores goals as well."

Why is Neves in such high demand?

As O'Rourke has already mentioned, Neves is a quality player who can do so much in the middle of the park.

The Portugal international's standout attribute, though, is probably his passing. He is a real conductor in Bruno Lage's midfield, and that was on show in Wolves' 1-0 win over Everton last month.

That game, Neves completed 74 passes, which was the highest number recorded in the encounter at Goodison Park (via WhoScored).

Neves was also very good when it came to winning the ball back. He made two tackles to put himself in the top five players for that category and three interceptions to also enter the top three in that statistic.

To sum the former Porto man up, he is an all-round midfielder that brings a lot to the table, which makes him an appealing option for clubs like United and Arsenal.
