Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has said that it is unlikely there is going to be a magic fix this weekend for his team that will return them to the front of the grid.

The Silver Arrows are certainly in a difficult period at the moment with them struggling for pace and looking off of the mark when it comes to trying to challenge Red Bull and Ferrari.

Clearly, there is work to do for the team on the W13, but they are undoubtedly working hard and aiming to just perform damage limitation in the meantime before they solve their issues.

Indeed, that is the tone that Toto Wolff has cut in his comments ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, with him saying that there is not going to be a magic fix this weekend in Melbourne:

“We are in a learning race and the first two weekends have shown we still have plenty to learn,” said Wolff.

“At the moment, our track performance is not meeting our own expectations, but everyone at Brackley and Brixworth is focused on understanding the problems and finding the right solutions.

“There won’t be a magic fix for the next race weekend, but we’re pushing to steadily bring gains over the upcoming races, to hopefully move us closer to the front of the pack. Until then, we need to maximise each opportunity and make the most of the package we have.”

It's pretty odd seeing Mercedes struggling so much after years of dominance but all good things do eventually come to an end.

Saying that, it's hardly as if the team is completely out of the game in the championship as there are 21 rounds to go so, if they can sort their current issues, this season can still offer them plenty.
