UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski continued his reign with a four-round stoppage of South Korean Chan Sung Jung on Saturday night.

The Australian, 33, successfully defended his featherweight title in the main event of UFC 273 in front of a sellout crowd at Vystar Veterans Memorial Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Volkanovski’s victory was his third successive title defence, and his 21st consecutive victory, as he underlined his status as one of the most dominant forces in mixed martial arts.

He stopped Jung on his feet in the fourth round shortly after dropping him badly at the end of the third.

Volkanovski connected to the chin of Jung sending him crashing to the canvas.

He then wobbled him again with a straight right, giving him no chance to recover.

The referee quickly rushed in to stop the fight, with the former rugby league player raising his arms aloft to celebrate the victory.

Volkanovski, who goes by the nickname ‘The Great’, told Joe Rogan he wants to stay active this year.

“Australia, like I said baby, I’m bringing it home,” he said.

“Whoever. Obviously there was a fight that was meant to be scheduled for this one. We’ll see what the UFC says.”

In the co-main event of the evening, Aljamain Sterling used his grappling to great affect against Petr Yan in a complete opposite of their first fight.

Before that however Khamzat Chimaev edged out Gilbert Burns after engaging in a brutal and bloody contest.

While there were also wins for Mackenzie Dern and Mark Madsen on the main card which had a little bit of everything.
