Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium was a true Premier League classic.

The clash between the two world-class sides battling for the title was given the biggest of build-ups and it met virtually every single expectation.

It was sporting entertainment of the highest order and the only minor downside was that neither team emerged victorious from the epic encounter.

Things could have been different in that regard had Riyad Mahrez kept his composure in the final minute of stoppage-time, but the Algerian skied a relatively easy opportunity by his standards.

So the two best teams on the planet had to settle for a point each, with Kevin De Bruyne, Diogo Jota, Gabriel Jesus and Sadio Mane the goalscorers on the day.

It's a match Premier League fans will not forget in a hurry and the two managers on show made sure to give us one final brilliant memory straight after the full-time whistle had been blown.

An iconic game full of needle, passion and outrageous quality ending with a moment like that? Football just doesn't get any better.

City and Liverpool's rivalry is one of the best the Premier League has ever seen and the lack of nastiness off the field only makes it better in our opinion.

But back to the result itself and the draw is a slightly better outcome for City, as it means they remain top of the table by a point.

WHAT A GAME! Advantage to who? Man City 2-2 Liverpool (Football Terrace)

The two teams will now have to dust themselves off and prepare for Champions League duty in the week.

City face a tough trip to Spain for their second leg against Atletico Madrid, while Liverpool host Benfica at Anfield with a healthy 3-1 advantage from the first leg.

After those matches, England's top two meet again on the weekend in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

If that game is half as good as the Premier League clash, we're in for a treat!
