Konami’s eFootball 2022 is getting a major update, 1.0.0, on Thursday 14th April 2022, and now the developers have addressed some of the major concerns with the game.
The initial release of the game back in October 2021 was met with disastrous user scores and presented a huge issue for the developers.
Konami is hoping that they can claw back longtime fans of PES to embrace the concept of eFootball 2022.

The original release of the game, a free to play successor to the Pro Evolution Soccer series, was widely panned upon release.
The 1.0.0 release of the game is expected to be a major relaunch of the disastrous initial title, and Konami revealed in a statement to VGC that they’re taking the criticisms of fans and the media very seriously.
“It’s hard to point to one deciding aspect,” a spokesperson for Konami revealed to the site. “The incompletion of the game came as a result of multiple factors including the transition to a new football game engine, the support of next-generation consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the change of play style to free to play and furthermore, we tried to deliver new eFootball 2022 for players as soon as possible.
“Resultantly, the game received harsh feedback about the quality. Since eFootball’s launch back in September, however, we have prioritised improvements and corrections based on the feedback and opinions we received.”
Konami also noted in the statement to VGC that they did not want to postpone the initial release of the game, and can only apologise to players for the state of the launch title.
“As answered in the previous question, we didn’t have any plans to postpone the release because we ultimately had a strong desire to deliver the new eFootball 2022 game to users as soon as possible.
“Normally, we would release a new game in the autumn, parallel with the start of the European football season. We apologise to all players who have been waiting for the release.”
Hopefully, Konami is able to make significant changes to the game to bring it to a point where a PES title can genuinely be considered a rival to the massively popular FIFA franchise once again.
