Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns from UFC 273 was a barnburner of a contest, and now fans and fighters have been reacting online to the fight.

The three-round bout was the litmus test for Chimaev at the upper echelons of the UFC’s Welterweight ranks, and he did not disappoint.

Whilst some were hoping for the 27-year-old fighter to get into the octagon and completely “smesh” his Brazilian opponent, instead, we got a back and forth fight that went to the judge’s scorecards.

Here are some of the reactions from celebrities, fight fans and pro MMA fighters themselves to Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns.

Chimaev vs Burns Reactions

The slugfest between the two Welterweight fighters ended in a unanimous decision victory for Chimaev, who was ranked #11 in the division ahead of the contest.

Burns, who was ranked #2 before the weekend, was up on a lot of fans’ scorecards during the fight, so it could warrant a rematch between the two at some point.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou praised the contest after the final bell. He tweeted: “Great War between 2 warriors! Congrats to both fighters Maybe you guys can put some respect on Gilbert's name now.”

Henry Cejudo also commented on the 170-pound war, saying that it should’ve been a 5 round affair. He tweeted: “WE WANT 2 MORE ROUNDS! GIVE US WHAT WE WANT! What a fight! #UFC273”

UFC commentator and former champ-champ Daniel Cormier also reacted to the epic contest, saying that he believes the judges got the decision right: “Right call! But what a damn fight boys!!! @KChimaev and @GilbertDurinho take a bow fellas!”

PFL Fighter Jeremy Stephens also commented on the contest, tweeting: “Sickest welterweight fight I’ve ever seen @GilbertDurinho @KChimaev @ufc Holy sh*t that was insane thank u guys!!!”

Noted UFC fan and Hollywood megastar The Rock commented on the battle between the two Welterweight warriors: Holy sh*t. What a fight!!! Burns/Chimaev #UFC273”

It’s likely that we will see Chimaev go on to face Colby Covington next, but there is certainly scope for a rematch with Burns.
