Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is ‘going to go right to the very top’, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The 20-year-old only arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer via an £8 million deal from Championship outfit Reading, but he’s already made a big impression at his new side.

What is the latest news involving Olise?

Olise became the first acquisition of Patrick Vieira’s reign after he replaced Roy Hodgson back in July following an outstanding 2020/21 campaign.

The France Under-21 international registered seven goals and 12 assists in 44 Championship outings last season, catching the eye of the Eagles’ hierarchy.

An injury and a natural bedding-in period meant that Olise had a slow start to life in south London, though, and he didn’t make his first Premier League start until 23rd October.

However, the immensely talented gem has made up for lost time.

In 26 appearances across all competitions, Olise has racked up four goals and eight assists, playing a pivotal part in Palace’s rise to 10th place in the top-flight table while firing them to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

His relationship with fellow forwards Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze has also begun to blossom, sparking hope of a bright and exciting future for Palace.

What has Bridge said about Olise?

Palace have started to target younger acquisitions in recent transfer windows and Olise is their second successful purchase from the Championship following Eze’s switch from Queens Park Rangers.

And Bridge believes the Frenchman is destined to have a successful career at the highest level.

He told GiveMeSport: “Michael Olise, who, in my opinion, is going to go right to the very top. Crystal Palace are a very clear sign of good recruitment, good Championship recruitment as well, with Eberechi Eze and Olise.”

How has Olise been performing?

While Olise’s end product has been very respectable so far throughout 2021/22, his underlying numbers also indicate that his improvement and productivity is sustainable.

As per FBref, the technically gifted ace has ranked in the 98th percentile for assists, the 95th for progressive carries and the 89th for progressive carries amongst players in his position over the last year.

According to WhoScored, Olise has also averaged 0.8 key passes per league game this season, the joint-third highest total when compared to his teammates.

It appears as though Olise has a very bright future, therefore, and everyone associated with Palace will surely be looking forward to watching him develop firsthand.
