Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most exciting Welterweight fighters in the UFC right now, and he is expected to be fighting Colby Covington next.

Despite missing weight and causing the UFC 279 main event to be changed, Chimaev will still compete on that card and defeat Kevin Holland in a decisive fashion.

Covington's last action in the octagon saw him defeat Jorge Masvidal over 5 rounds, with a unanimous decision victory helping to keep him at #2 in the 170-pound Welterweight division.

Here’s everything that we know right now about the potential UFC showdown between Khamzat Chimaev and Colby Covington.

Speaking to The MacLife (via MMAJunkie), UFC President Dana White revealed that the fight could be happening on the undercard of Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman 3.

"I'll get Khamzat Chimaev vs. Colby Covington done as co-main for Leon vs. Usman 3" the UFC President confirmed.

The fight has not as of writing yet been confirmed, but it is expected that Usman vs Edwards 3 will be taking place in London in 2023, potentially in March.

Speaking on his YouTube Channel (via Sportskeeda MMA), 'The Count' Michael Bisping gave his take on the potential bout and who would win.

Bisping stated: "He's [Chimaev] extremely powerful, he has great wrestling, he has great striking, he's super aggressive and wastes no time. He probably doesn't pace himself too well.

"Khamzat can go three rounds. We've seen him do that before. But five rounds, that's a different kettle of fish. If it was [five rounds] I would see Colby having a real advantage."

It remains to be seen if Chimaev vs Covington will be a 5-round fight, but it could easily be the main event of a PPV card at some point in 2023, if not the co-main event of the March PPV.
