It's the dream of almost every young football fan to walk out as a mascot for their favourite club, especially at home.

Over the years, we've seen a number of youngsters decide to make the most of their moment by pranking the stars that they are rubbing shoulders with. Most famously, Liverpool's Champions League-winning captain Steven Gerrard was mocked by five-year-old Chelsea mascot Jake Nickless in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge.

However, we've rarely come across a mascot embracing the occasion as wholeheartedly as the young boy who accompanied PSV Eindhoven's Olivier Boscagli on to the pitch for the Dutch side's Eredivisie fixture with RKC Waalwijk on Sunday.

This lad was having the absolute time of his life as he entered a packed Philips Stadion, waving to the crowd with his arms fully extended before appearing to pay homage to Cristiano Ronaldo by mimicking the Portuguese superstar's pre-match warm-up routine.

He may have been one of a group of children chosen to walk out with the PSV team but this youngster was determined to enjoy every second of his experience, beaming as though the thousands in attendance had turned out solely to see him.

It was a wonderfully wholesome moment, which fans on social media couldn't get enough of, sending the clip viral within a matter of hours.

"The main character," wrote one user.

"It's his world and we're all just living in it," agreed another.

"Class. Thought the kid was about to drop a 'Siuuuu'," joked a third reply.

"You do it right and you only need to do it once," read a further response, admiring the lad's commitment to squeezing every last drop out of enjoyment out of the occasion.

"I must have watched this 10 times and makes me smile every time. What a way to enjoy your day. Well done this little lad," exclaimed a final comment, echoing the feelings of many.

As if he didn't enjoy the pre-match festivities enough, the young fan then got to watch his heroes saunter to a 2-0 win to keep up the pressure on Ajax at the top of the league table.

A perfect day for the lad.
