NRL streaker: Female pitch invader wiped out by security guard

Australian Rugby League fan Javon Johanson garnered international attention over the weekend after a clip of her streaking during Saturday’s NRL match between the Parramatta Eels and the Gold Coast Titans went viral.

In an effort to fulfill what she later revealed was a lifelong dream, Johanson sprinted half the length of the Cbus Super Stadium in Queensland wearing just a bra and a pair of jeans, before she was approached by security.

The 28-year-old managed to give one steward the slip, but could do nothing to escape the attentions of a further security guard who brutally wiped her out with a bone-crunching tackle.

The hit was so severe that it drew a collective gasp from fans in all four stands around the ground. Players from both sides were also visibly astounded as they watched Johanson get driven to the turf.

Parramatta halfback Mitchell Moses, who was lining up a kick at goal at the time, can be seen raising his hands to his head in disbelief at the collision in the footage below.

The “heavy-handed” nature of the security guard’s response was immediately condemned by Dennis Watt, chairman of host club the Titans.

“From where I was sitting it did seem heavy-handed. It could have been handled better. You heard this collective intake of breath around the ground,” Watt stated, per 7News.com.au.

“It did seem over the top and it put the intruder at real physical risk.”

Granted, no fan should ever set foot on to the field of play, but the steward’s reaction definitely seemed out of proportion.

Not that Johanson seemed at all concerned afterwards.

“I used to play AFL and rugby and I have three brothers, so getting tackled was not a problem,” she assured members of the media following the match, per the Daily Mail.

Johanson admitted that her boyfriend had since broken up with her over her streaking bid, but flatly denied that she had any regrets over her decision.

“It’s been a bucket list thing and when your friends say, ‘I dare you to do it’, you don’t actually think you’re going to do it. It was such a surreal, out-of-body experience.

“It’s the adrenaline of the crowd. You just hear this big roar and I was like, ‘I need to take off my top now’. I was so close to doing my bra but I was like, ‘No … that’s a bit far'”.

The die-hard Titans fan faces prosecution over her actions and is staring at a possible $10,000 fine and lifelong ban from watching the sport she loves live when her case is heard in two weeks’ time.

Despite all of the potential personal consequences for Johanson, however, she doesn’t want the security guard who tackled her in such a violent fashion to face any repercussions.

“It’s fair play. I definitely took what I deserved. He should keep his job,” she stated.
