Crystal Palace will do everything in their power to try and convince Wilfred Zaha to sign a new contract, according to former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The £36m-rated attacker has been in outstanding form this season but will have entered the final 12 months of his deal following the climax of the 2021-2022 campaign.

What's the latest news involving Zaha?

With Palace making great strides under Vieira and the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise on their books, they're not as reliant on Zaha as they once were.

However, he has still scored 11 Premier League goals this term, meaning he needs just one more to mark his best ever return at top-flight level, although this summer represents the final opportunity that Palace will have to receive a significant fee for Zaha's services.

Therefore, the Daily Mail believe that with some exciting youngsters in their squad, the South Londoners are willing to listen to offers for the 29-year-old at the end of the season, with the club reluctant to let him run his contract down and then leave for nothing in the summer of 2023.

Zaha's last contract extension was nearly four years ago, but with time running out for the Eagles to secure his long-term future, Palmer reckons that the hierarchy at Selhurst Park will be doing all they can to convince him to stay at his boyhood club.

What did Palmer say about Zaha?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he's enjoying his football and I believe that Palace will try everything to secure his services at the football club."

Can Palace cope without Zaha?

Vieira might have an array of exciting attacking talent at his disposal beyond Zaha, but when their top goalscorer doesn't play, they still perform half as good.

In the five Premier League games that he's missed this season, Palace have collected just five points from a possible 15 available, with their only win in that period coming against rock-bottom Norwich.

But with Olise enhancing his reputation with every passing week, and Eze finally showing signs of his old self following his long spell on the sidelines, not to mention the upturn in fortunes of Jean-Philippe Mateta in recent months, the thought of life after Zaha might not be as bad as first feared.
