Turning the clocks back two decades to the April of 2002, and the Hardy brothers ambushed Brock Lesnar live on Raw.Lesnar was parading the WWE ring alongside his right-hand-man Paul Heyman. In their usual arrogant style, the duo were talking ill of Lesnar’s fellow Superstar.Matt and Jeff Hardy then slid into the ring, causing Heyman to flee whilst Lesnar was left to face the brothers.A brutal onslaught ensued which saw Lesnar receive quite the beating, but only once the brother could get two chairs on their side.At the start, it looked like The Beast Incarnate would be able to deal with both brothers at the same time, tossing Jeff out the ring, quickly followed by his brother Matt. However, when they would return to the ring, they returned with weapons. The pair, with chairs in hand, swung them freely with no remorse. Every time it seemed that the former UFC heavyweight champion was gaining the upper-hand, the other Hardy would come back into the fold and smack him with a chair.

You can watch the segment in full in the clip above, but just listen to the noise of those chair shots. Absolutely brutal!

Eight years on from this savage chair attack, in 2010, the WWE actually banned chair shots to the head in all capacities.

Concussions were becoming a recurring issue and as the industry moved into the modern age, such precautions needed to be taken, even if begrudgingly so.

Vince McMahon took the decision to wave goodbye to the Attitude Era and say hello to more child friendly content.

One other thing that the WWE went on to ban was the use/sight of blood.

It was always synonymous with someone taking a true beating. It is surprising in fact that this wasn’t the case in Lesnar’s beating at the hands of the Hardys 20 years ago.
