Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte: WBC release gorgeous new title belt

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte

The WBC have released an all new looking ‘Union Belt’ ahead of Tyson Fury’s title defence against fellow Brit Dillian Whyte on the 23rd of April at Wembley Stadium.

The new belt adorns the typical flags of the world around the outside, and has red, Tudor roses along the strap with the Union Jack flag as the centrepiece.

The fight will take place at a sold out Wembley stadium, with around 200,000 fans allegedly trying to buy tickets when they were released last month.

Fury has announced that golf had been helping him prepare and said he’d been hitting around 200 balls a day to help increase power in his right hand.

Whyte, the mandatory challenger, has been quiet ahead of the record breaking fight, with The Body Snatcher deciding not to attend last month’s press conference.

Fury did attend and announced that this would be his last fight regardless of the result but has somewhat backtracked and has insisted that he is solely focused on this fight.

When asked about potential retirement he said: “100%, I’m a two time world champion, £150 million in the bank and nothing to prove to nobody.”

He also opened up on the risk and physical toll that boxing has on its participants and suggested that his family needs to come first.

“I’ve got six kids and a wife. When is enough enough? Why do I have to be one of those people who went on too long and got injured? Just had one too many fights and blew it all for what? A few more quid?”

This would put an end to the potential clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua.

A fight between the two has been on the cards for almost five years, ever since Joshua fought and beat Wladimir Klitschko.

The talks and rumours slowly started dying out after Joshua’s shock loss to Andy Ruiz in 2019.
