West Ham could land some ambitious signings in the summer transfer window, claims Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

While the east London club had a quiet January, Brown believes David Gold, David Sullivan and Daniel Kretinsky could make some serious moves heading into the 2022/23 season.

What is the latest transfer news involving West Ham?

Reports in Spain are currently linking Real Madrid star Isco with a switch to West Ham, with the 29-year-old seeing very little game time under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

According to El ESPANOL, David Moyes is keen on adding Isco to his squad but faces competition from Sevilla and Fiorentina for his signature.

The Spain international has started just three league games for Madrid in the current campaign and will be a free agent in the summer, so an exit does look inevitable.

In the winter window, West Ham tried to sign Benfica's Darwin Nunez, so the striker could be another big name the Hammers target when the transfer market is open again.

What has Brown said about West Ham's summer plans?

Brown thinks this could be the summer where the West Ham board deliver and make some ambitious signings.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star reporter said: "I would suspect this summer might be the one where they manage to pull something like that off [ambitious signings]. And obviously if they get in the Champions League, that would make a huge difference to being able to attract some of those names."

How important is this summer for West Ham?

Very. They may need to make significant additions to their squad to convince their star players to remain at the London Stadium.

According to a report from 90min, Jarrod Bowen is attracting interest from Newcastle United, who now have the resources to make individuals big offers.

Team-mate Declan Rice also continues to be linked with other clubs. The Telegraph recently claimed that Manchester United want to sign the West Ham vice-captain and Tottenham talisman Harry Kane as they look to back Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman set to become their next manager.

If the Hammers are to keep hold of the likes of Bowen and Rice, then they are going to have to show them that the club can progress. And to do that, new signings who are going to improve the team are probably going to be needed.
