There ‘is some hope’ that Rangers can snap up midfielder Aaron Ramsey on a permanent basis in the summer while winger Amad Diallo is set to return to Manchester United, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The pair arrived at Ibrox on short-term loan deals during the January transfer window but have experienced rather contrasting fortunes during their respective stints with the Glasgow giants.

What is the latest news involving Diallo and Ramsey?

Rangers brought in Diallo, who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, to much fanfare during the winter after Ianis Hagi suffered a potentially season-ending injury.

And the 19-year-old's time with the reigning Scottish champions got off to a promising start after he found the back of the net in an enthralling 3-3 draw with Ross County on his debut.

However, he has been unable to build on that initial success and was hauled off at half-time the following week in a hugely disappointing 3-0 defeat against bitter rivals Celtic.

Ramsey, on the other hand, appears to be going from strength to strength in a Rangers shirt after struggling to stay fit following his arrival from Juventus.

The 72-cap Wales international got a vital equaliser in a narrow victory over Dundee last month before scoring just three minutes into his Old Firm debut.

A recent report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Ramsey’s eye-catching display against the Hoops has convinced the Rangers hierarchy to look into the possibility of signing him on a long-term deal.

What has Jones said about Diallo and Ramsey?

While Diallo has failed to start a game since 12th February, playing just 45 minutes of Rangers last eight top-flight fixtures, Ramsey is beginning to become a regular fixture in the side.

And Jones has revealed that he is ‘hearing’ the Ivorian teenager will depart the Gers in the summer, while the experienced engine room operator could stay put.

He told GiveMeSport: "What I'm hearing is that Diallo is not staying beyond this season - but Ramsey could. It depends what Juventus let happen in terms of how it opens up, but there is some hope he could be with them next season."

Could Rangers afford Ramsey?

Ramsey, who is valued at £4.5m, still has 15 months left to run on his £400,000-per-week contract with Juve.

Nevertheless, it’s believed that the Serie A giants are willing to allow the technically gifted talent to depart for free in order to get his astronomical wages off their books.

Ramsey would still have to take a sizeable pay cut to join Rangers permanently, though, but at 31, money may not be at the top of his priority list.
