Rangers have 'already been speaking about potential targets' as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks to bolster his Ibrox squad in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gers may not be in the driving seat when it comes to fighting for the Scottish Premiership title, but it appears they are preparing to be busy attracting fresh faces ahead of next season.

Who has been linked with Rangers?

Having been appointed as Rangers' manager last November, van Bronckhorst could look to put his own stamp on the squad heading into his first full campaign at the helm.

According to the Northern Echo, the Dutchman is hoping to bolster his attacking options by signing Sunderland frontman Ross Stewart.

The report suggests Norwich City and Swansea City also hold an interest in the 25-year-old, who is closing in on 30 goal contributions this season and will enter the final 12 months of his deal at the Stadium of Light in the summer.

Meanwhile, German media outlet Frankfurter Rundschau have claimed Rangers have expressed an interest in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

It is understood that van Bronckhorst is keen to beat Hamburg, who currently ply their trade in the second tier of German football, to the 20-year-old's signature.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones understands that Rangers have been keen to get onto the front-foot when it comes to identifying potential acquisitions ahead of the summer window.

The transfer insider believes van Bronckhorst and the Gers hierarchy have been quick to pinpoint targets and are already ahead of rivals in terms of their planning.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I know they've already been speaking about potential targets for the window, which is quite interesting given we're still only halfway through April.

"A lot of clubs aren't that far down the road in terms of defining where they want to head."

Are there likely to be departures from Ibrox?

According to Football Insider, Amad Diallo will not be remaining at Rangers beyond the end of the campaign.

The report suggests there are no plans to attempt to extend his loan move into next season or negotiate a permanent deal.

Diallo headed to Ibrox for the remainder of the campaign after an agreement was reached with Manchester United late in the January window.

Van Bronckhorst could be set for a summer rebuild as Connor Goldson, Scott Arfield, Steven Davis and Allan McGregor's respective contracts are due to expire on May 31.

Rangers hold an option to extend Leon Balogun's deal by 12 months, but they have not pushed through with that yet, while Aaron Ramsey's loan from Juventus will also come to an end.
