Manchester City are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League after a battle display against Atletico Madrid.

Everyone knew Diego Simeone's side would make it extremely difficult for City and we probably should be surprised at what unfolded.

To be fair to the Spanish side, they put Pep Guardiola's men under immense pressure. They will be wondering quite how they didn't score in the 90 minutes.

But what happened in the final minutes of the match - and in the tunnel - left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.

City won't care too much, though.

Their task was the qualify for the last four of the competition - and they've done just that.

However, it wasn't a perfect night.

Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both left the pitch with injuries, while Phil Foden picked up a head injury.

With Liverpool at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, City will have to recover quickly.

Although it seems unlikely we'll see Walker against Jurgen Klopp's side.

Walker twisted his ankle awkwardly while trying to clear the ball and, despite trying to play on, had to be replaced by Nathan Ake in the 73rd-minute.

But Walker wasn't interested in being stretchered off after being subbed. And as he was playing right-back - the opposite side to the dugouts - he had to walk around the entire pitch back to the City bench.

That meant walking past the raucous home crowd.

Most players might have been intimidated by the Atleti supporters at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. But not Walker.

The home fans abused Walker from just metres away as he limped around the pitch. Walker's reaction? Just stare back and smile without an ounce of fear.

What a guy.

Don't know about you but we'd have been running around the pitch as quickly as possible.

After the match, Guardiola was asked about the injuries they picked up on the night.

"We are in big trouble," said Guardiola when asked about the injuries after the match. "We played three days ago, now have a lot of injuries, I don't know what will happen in the next weeks.

"We are going to celebrate. It's the third time we're in semi-finals of the Champions League, a big success and happy to be there."

Meanwhile, Walker tweeted: "Delighted to qualify for the semi final of the @championsleague. So proud of the way the boys kept their heads and battled hard on the pitch tonight. Thank you all for the messages of support, hopefully the injury isn’t too bad."
