West Ham can pull off a great double deal by landing Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard and Burnley defender James Tarkowski this summer, claims journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Both players have been linked with moves to the London Stadium, and O'Rourke believes they would be fantastic additions to David Moyes' squad.

What is the latest news involving Lingard and Tarkowski?

Lingard and Tarkowski are likely to receive a host of offers from other clubs in the summer, with their contracts set to expire at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham are one outfit who are interested in signing Lingard, while TEAMtalk are reporting that the Hammers are also keen on Tarkowski.

The former spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Ham and was a success there, making it no surprise that they want to sign him.

As for the latter, he has been on the east London club's radar for a while now after being the subject of three bids back in 2020.

What has O'Rourke said about Lingard and Tarkowski to West Ham?

If West Ham can pull off the signings of Lingard and Tarkowski in the summer transfer window, O'Rourke thinks it would be a great double swoop for the Premier League outfit.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "If you can get someone like a Tarkowski and Lingard on free transfers, it would be a great double signing and great additions to the squad."

Should West Ham sign Lingard and Tarkowski?

On free transfers, it is a no-brainer. The English duo would add plenty of Premier League experience to Moyes' side.

In total, Lingard has made 162 appearances in the top flight, while Tarkowski has made 187. In Lingard's case, 16 of those came at West Ham during that brilliant loan spell.

Across those games, the England international came up with over 10 goal contributions to help the Hammers qualify for the Europa League.

Unfortunately, that was not enough to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Lingard a key role this season, with the former United manager failing to hand him a single start before his dismissal. And not much has changed under Ralf Rangnick, who has also overlooked the attacking midfielder in the current campaign.

Considering that, it is not a shock that Lingard is heading for the Old Trafford exit door, and it will now be interesting to see if West Ham can land both him and Tarkowski ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
