The announcement of AEW's first official video game has had an along awaited update regarding its scheduled release.

The AEW video game was initially announced on the AEW Games YouTube channel back in November of 2020.
The game was announced to be developed by Yukes. Yukes are best known for their work with WWE video games for over two decades, developing titles such as the SmackDown Vs Raw series, SmackDown Here Comes The Pain, and more.

It was revealed that the director of the famous WWF No Mercy game, Hideyuki "Geta" Ideshita, would be involved with the AEW console game project.

According to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp there is a "tentative internal release date" for the console game, with the rumoured date being set for September.

In previous interviews AEW wrestler and EVP, Kenny Omega has made it clear that their production wont is able to compete with the high detailed graphics of the WWE 2K games more specifically the new 2K22 release. However, Omega did reveal that the intention with the game is just for it to feel good and let audiences have fun.

This means AEW's console game could be taking us back to the arcade-style games that are familiarised with the PS2 and Nintendo 64.

More news will be sure to be released in the coming months but what is unclear is whether recent changes will feature in the game. For example. ROH or recent wrestler acquisitions like Samoa Joe, Adam Cole, Toni Storm, Bryan Danielson, and more.

You can watch AEW internationally on FITE TV.
