Chelsea are looking to close out an early summer deal for Jules Kounde as they aim to recover quickly from a difficult time.

What's the latest news involving Chelsea?

The sanctions that followed Roman Abramovich’s Stamford Bridge exit rocked the club in every department but as the takeover now begins to take shape, there is hope of a quick turnaround.

One of the biggest issues recently has been the inability to sit down for fresh, serious talks about new contracts with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, who all have one year left to run after this summer.

But they also have to deal with the fact Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are leaving for La Liga when their deals expire in the coming weeks. Rudiger is joining Real Madrid while Christensen is expected to be announced as a Barcelona player.

Will Chelsea sign Jules Kounde this summer?

It is with that in mind that they are to revisit the Kounde situation with the aim of finally getting him signed up as a Chelsea player.

Figures within the Chelsea set-up expect a deal to be agreed very quickly after the new owners officially have their feet under the table. It was reported last week that Todd Boehly's consortium had reached an agreement to buy the club.

With personal terms for Kounde pretty much sorted because of last year’s negotiations, a final fee just needs to be agreed with Sevilla. His release clause currently stands at €80m (£68.2m).

It is understood the player remains keen on Chelsea as his next destination, and is not put off by their situation from recent months.

Chelsea do continue to look at other options though, as it might yet be that they look to sign two central defenders.

They will check out Levi Colwill when he returns from a loan spell at Huddersfield but Chelsea also are expected to consider the possibility of a more major signing, with sources suggesting Paris Saint-Germain vice-captain Presnel Kimpembe is a target that Thomas Tuchel has outlined to staff. There are rumours too surrounding the pursuit of Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, which should be taken seriously.

What should we expect from Chelsea this summer?

We might see a mini-refurb on the pitch at Stamford Bridge this summer as there is uncertainty over several first-teamers, while the club realise there is a jump in quality between them and Liverpool and Manchester City.

Romelu Lukaku's situation is one that needs resolving quickly - as his signing was supposed to move them closer to the top two, not further from them.

Some insiders believe we could see as many as six new faces arriving but only time will tell on that as we need to assess how aggressive the new owners are once actually in charge in West London.
