Israel Adesanya is one of the most entertaining fighters to watch in the UFC today.

His high proficiency kickboxing style combined with his trash-talking charisma straight out of the WWE Attitude Era makes him one of the most must-watch athletes in the promotion.

However, fight fans would have wished they could have skipped his UFC middleweight championship defence at UFC 248 against Yoel Romero.

It says a lot about a fight when the best moment comes before either fighter has even laid a glove on their opponent.

But the start of this bout was more reminiscent of when you and your friend are trying to figure out the controls to a game rather than a UFC middleweight championship fight.

Adesanya bounced across the Octagon throwing feigned punches whilst Romero stood rooted to the spot with his two fists clenched in front of his face.

One user on Reddit poked fun at the hilarious incident commenting: "Hold on don't hit me for a second I have to plug in my controller."

Another user followed a similar line saying: "Wait.... I'm trying to figure out the moves."

Post-fight, UFC president Dana White expressed that he wished he had never booked the fight, which main evented the Las Vegas event.

“Now, hindsight is 20/20. We probably shouldn’t have done that fight. We probably should have waited for Costa.”

The championship snooze fest got off to a comically slow start before going the full five rounds.

It was The Last Stylebender who had his hand raised at the end of the final round, however, in his first title defence.

Whilst Romero had competed for the interim middleweight title previously, this was his first attempt at winning the official strap, but it shouldn’t have been. The Solider of God had originally been slated for a title fight against then-champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 225, but missed weight by 0.2 pounds.

If that hadn’t been shocking enough, the 44-year-old similarly botched his cut four months previously, heading into his interim title match against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221.

Whilst the full fight may have been an absolute snooze fest, this clip still never fails to make us laugh two years on.
