Emmanuel Gimenez is a name that will not ring any bells in the heads of most football fans. The Argentine midfielder has spent his entire playing career out in South America and is currently representing Club Atletico Racing.Atletico operate in Argentina's third-tier, so it's understandable if you've never heard of Gimenez before. So why are we bringing him up? Well, on Wednesday evening, the 38-year-old journeyman produced arguably the most perfect penalty kick in football history. In the first round of the 2021/22 Copa Argentina, Atletico took top-flight outfit San Lorenzo to a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after normal and extra time. And it was Atletico who prevailed in the spot kick lottery to pull off a seismic shock in Argentinian football.

The third-tier side scored all four of their penalties, while San Lorenzo were only able to convert twice from their four attempts.

Gimenez took his side's second spot kick on the night and his effort was so powerful and precise that it broke the net.

We're not joking either.

The ball flew past the San Lorenzo goalkeeper at a rapid pace, burst through the net and continued on its trajectory like a tracer bullet.

It just doesn't get any better than that, does it? Gimenez now has bragging rights whenever penalties are the topic of discussion in the future.

The only penalty in recent memory that we think can perhaps lay claim to being as perfect is Harry Maguire's effort for England versus Italy in the final of Euro 2020 which famously broke a television camera.

The Manchester United man's sensational strike under enormous pressure was quite magnificent, but Gimenez's masterpiece just edges it for us.
