Nemanja Matic has confirmed he will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2021/22 season. The midfielder, who still has 12 months remaining on his contract, confirmed the news on his official Instagram account.Matic wrote on the social media platform: “After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision.“It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support.“I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my team-mates finish as strongly as possible.”Matic joined United in the summer of 2017 from Chelsea in a deal worth around £40 million and he's been a solid performer during his time at Old Trafford.Under Jose Mourinho's rule in 2017/18, the Serbian enforcer helped the Red Devils finish second in the Premier League table.Matic's stoppage-time winner away at Crystal Palace at the very end of that campaign is undoubtedly his finest moment in a United shirt.

And perhaps the former Benfica man's second-finest moment came just a few months later.

At the very start of the 2018/19 season, a Chelsea fan tried to mock Matic on Instagram by posting a picture of him holding the Premier League trophy with an accompanying caption that read: "When you know it's your last one..."

Matic could have let it slide, but he decided to go to the trouble of responding in the post's comment section and he simply wrote: "Who you draw in CL?"

Matic's response to Chelsea fan

Simple but effective, very effective indeed.

Chelsea failed to qualify for the 2018/19 Champions League after a very disappointing second season under Antonio Conte that saw them finish fifth in the Premier League.

However, the Blues went on to win the Europa League, while United and Matic went trophyless.

Matic has never lifted silverware with the Red Devils, so the post from the Chelsea fan that he replied to was actually accurate up to this point in time.

Sorry Nemanja, but your comment was still funny regardless of that fact...
