Sean Dyche's nine-year tenure at Burnley came to an end on Friday.

The Englishman had done so well with The Clarets but was sacked with the club in serious danger of relegation from the Premier League.

A statement on Burnley's website read: “Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the Club over the last decade.

“During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.

“However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status."

Dyche is a no-nonsense manager who has clashed with numerous players and managers during his career.

One of the players that Dyche has previously had hostilities with is Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling.

On September 30, 2020, Burnley welcomed City to Turf Moor for their Carabao Cup clash.

The match, which ended 3-0 to City, was played without fans in attendance. That meant you could hear what players and staff were saying.

And microphones picked up Dyche and his backroom staff going off at Sterling after he fouled Matt Lowton.

Dyche could not be seen delivering the tirade but you can quite clearly hear him saying: "“Are you f***ing sure Sterling? You spend your whole life on the f***ing floor!"

Ian Woan, Dyche's assistant manager, could also be heard ripping into Sterling.

Dyche apologised for the bad language in his press conference a few days later.

“I try to be authentic because it’s the work place, I don’t think I should try to manufacture something different,” he said, per inews.

“But I apologise for the bad language – that’s not a deliberate thing, that’s just a passionate moment in time. I don’t think most people in football would be that offended, but there’s always someone.

“That’s all it is. It’s certainly not playing to the camera. I would feel a bit weird doing that. I’m just endeavouring to deliver what I think we need to win a game, and that’s it in a nutshell.

“I don’t wish to offend anyone. You’d have to ask the fans but I think it would be weird if I was to shout ‘Hurrah!’ It would look pretty peculiar if I did that. – but maybe I should try it, just to see what feedback we get!”

Dyche has established himself as a top manager over the past decade. Let's hope he's back in a job real soon.
