Thomas Tuchel compares Kai Havertz to 3 Premier League legends in tactical analysis

Thomas Tuchel has done an incredible job at Chelsea.

The German manager took over a Chelsea side in January 2021 that were struggling on all fronts.

But Tuchel transformed their fortunes as he guided them to a second Champions League trumph.

He also led them to a top four finish and a place in the FA Cup final.

It’s clear that Tuchel’s tactical nouse is off the charts.

Tuchel has recently given an insight into how he thinks in an interview with Glenn Hoddle.

The German manager broke down his thoughts on his system, including how Kai Havertz operates in it.

Havertz is emerging into a key player in Tuchel’s system and it’s clear how highly he thinks of the 22-year-old.

“I see a bit of Dennis Bergkamp, Robin Van Persie, (Dimitar) Berbatov kind of player,” responded Tuchel when questioned by Hoddle about how he views Havertz.

“He can play in the half position because he has good runs, but also feels free from the nine and creates overload to one side.

“When I watched him at Leverkusen, I didn’t know that I would coach him, when I watched him at Paris (Saint-Germain), they made him play as a nine which was very interesting.

“I remember when I watched a cup final against Bayern (Munich) with my staff and said ‘this could be a good role for him’.”
