Manchester United were looking to return to winning ways in their Premier League clash against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils welcomed the Premier League's bottom club to Old Trafford on the back of a hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat to Everton last weekend.

United desperately needed to pick up all three points as they look to finish in the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo was in the starting lineup and it didn't take him long to get on the scoresheet as he bagged the opener in just the seventh minute.

Anthony Elanga won the ball inside Norwich's box as he caught Ben Gibson dwelling on the ball.

The youngster then unselfishly slid the ball across for Ronaldo who had the easy task of converting into an empty net.

Ronaldo simply could not miss.

The 37-year-old immediately acknowledged Elanga's massive contribution and asked his teammate if he wanted to do his famous 'Siuuu' celebration with him.

It must be said, though, Elanga's 'Siuuu' needs some practice.

Ronaldo notched his second of the game in the 32nd minute.

Alex Telles swung in a corner and Ronaldo powered a header past Krul to double his side's lead.

That was his 20th goal this season in just 34 appearances. That's not a bad return at all.

Norwich were able to restore parity courtesy of goals from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki.

But Ronaldo came to United's rescue as he smashed home a free-kick with 15 minutes remaining to notch his hat-trick.

There were no further goals as United held on to a crucial three points.
