Cristiano Ronaldo was at his scintillating best for Manchester United on Saturday. While the Reds Devils limped and laboured their way through a Premier League clash with Norwich City, their star man was able to save the day with his 50th career hat-trick in club football.Ronaldo had fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead by sweeping home a close-range finish from Anthony Elanga's recovery work, before heading an Alex Telles corner past Tim Kurl's reach.

Ronaldo saves the day vs Norwich

However, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner watched all that hard work unravel in front of his eyes when Norwich brought the game back to 2-2 courtesy of goals from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki.

But it just so happens that Ronaldo is the finest clutch footballer in the world, so we should hardly have been surprised that he saved the day for United by completing his second treble of the season.

Just a second free-kick goal in the club game since leaving Real Madrid made the difference in the end with his stinging set-piece finding the net via Krul's gloves and the far post.

Ronaldo gives match ball to Garnacho

All in all, it crowned one of the finest performances of Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford and he could celebrate the occasion by taking home the third Premier League football of his career.

At least, he could have done, because television footage actually showed Ronaldo passing on the match ball that he smashed into the net three times to Alejandro Garnacho.

The 17-year-old sensation was named in United's match-day squad by Ralf Rangnick and although he spent the entire game on the bench, he nevertheless shared a special moment with Ronaldo at full-time.

Garnacho has been a standout performer for United's under-18 team on their way to the FA Youth Cup final and was even called up to Argentina's senior squad alongside Lionel Messi in March.

Aguero teases Garnacho

However, it seems as though Garnacho actually favours Ronaldo in the GOAT debate having shared a dressing room with them both based on his Instagram post after the Norwich victory this weekend.

That's because the Madrid-born sensation posted three images of himself, Ronaldo and the match ball with the caption: "Greatest of all times…" complete with goat, fire, football and love heart emojis.

At the time of writing, the post has amassed over 400,000 'likes', but perhaps the most note-worthy detail is the pinned comment from none other than Sergio Aguero with 150,000 'likes' of its own.

The Manchester City legend couldn't resist teasing his compatriot by mocking the stance that Ronaldo is the GOAT, replying in the comments: "Porque todavía no jugaste con el mejor pa @leomessi."

And according to the Manchester Evening News, that just happens to translate as: "Because you still didn't play with the best @leomessi." Brilliant.

Ronaldo gave Garnacho his match ball.

Teammates with Messi AND Ronaldo

Obviously, it's all a bit of light-hearted fun, but we can't help finding it at least slightly amusing that Garnacho was being made fun of for nailing his colours to the mast and naming Ronaldo as the GOAT.

And to be fair, Garnacho finds himself in a pretty astonishing situation for a 17-year-old, boasting the remarkable status of being both Ronaldo and Messi's teammates for United and Argentina respectively.

There are only a handful of players across the globe who have shared a dressing room with the two Ballon d'Or winners, but United's latest starlet has the additional luxury of doing so simultaneously.

Ronaldo and Messi are legendary players.

Garnacho will just to keep his fingers crossed that Aguero doesn't tell Messi about the Instagram post! Then again, we're sure another hat-trick ball might remedy the situation...
