Ibrahima Konate has made quite the impression in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old Frenchman signed for Liverpool after they paid his £36 million release clause in May 2021, and in typical Jurgen Klopp fashion when handling younger talents, he has been carefully eased into the set-up throughout this season.

Three goals in his last three appearances has confirmed Konate is as dangerous as he is physically imposing, but beyond that, the exceptionally high level of defending he has showcased across those games has understandly got Koppites talking.

It looks like Klopp and Liverpool's recruitment team are onto another winner with this boy.

And whilst it's certainly his recent performances that have grabbed the plaudits, Konate has been turning in brilliant cameos whenever he has been granted the opportunity this season - as proven in a video which has recently gone viral on Twitter.

The compilation video shows Konate's best bits from across the 2021/2022 season and it just demonstrates how much of a beast this man is, despite being so young.

Fans have been weighing in with their feelings on the matter and the general consensus is that the hype surrounding the young central defender is real.

Better than Ruben Dias? He might have a little bit more to prove before we can start contemplating that argument but the potential is clearly there, there can be no doubting that.

What have the experts said?

Plenty of experts have also been keen to sing the praises of Liverpool's newest gladiator.

Phil Thompson, who knows a thing or two about operating as part of a successful defence at Anfield, recently said: "Konate is looking like an absolute dream," he told Off The Ball (via Empire of the Kop)

"He's a wonderful player, so there are no problems making these changes."

Martin Keown also admitted that "it was a joy to watch him play" and labelled the Parisian born man "physically dominant."

All very good points, although, Jamie Carragher singled out another slightly more interesting attribute Konate possesses that has most impressed him this season.

“He has had a brilliant start to his Liverpool career, he really really has, Ibrahima Konate,” Carragher said on Sky Sports (via HITC).

“Hasn’t played every week, Konate, young player with great attributes, is a very good passer of the ball, can play out from the back.”

With Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip providing world class options for Klopp at centre-half, the youngster might have to be patient as he waits for a starting berth; however make no mistake, the future is bright at heart of Liverpool's defence.
