Dillian Whyte has a 'massive chance' of beating Tyson Fury, British boxing legend Carl Froch has claimed.

The former sparring partners will settle old scores and reopen old wounds in front of 94,000 fans at a packed out Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday night.

It will be the first time Fury has fought on home soil for four years since he beat Francesco Pianeta in Belfast back in August 2018.

Fresh off the back of consecutive back-to-back victories over Deontay Wilder, the Gypsy King rightly goes into the fight as a huge favourite according to the latest odds, but Froch has refused to rule anything out as he insists that Whyte is more than capable of spoiling his homecoming party.

Froch told iFL TV: "Great fight, I think Dillian Whyte's got a chance, but I'm picking Fury to win.

"Fury is tall, awkward, rangy, light on his feet, and he's got more experience at that level.

"His fights with Deontay Wilder really have taken him to that next level in terms of self-belief.

"I just think that it's going to be difficult for Whyte to beat Fury.

"But he's in the fight, Whyte is, and he's got a massive chance.

"He's a decent puncher and he will have trained his best for this.

"He's had some good preparation fights building up to it.

“His fight with Chisora was a tough one for him and his fight with Parker was tough.

“When you look at them performances against those level of fighters, you can’t put those performances as a winning performance against Fury.

“But it’s on the night and you don’t know what’s gone off before the fight and how the camps been in the sparring and how his mindsets been.

“He’s been waiting for a long time for this. I think you’re going to see the best of Dillian Whyte. If you don’t see the best of Tyson Fury as well there could be an upset on the cards."

Whyte, who turned 34 at the start of last week, has spent the past few months sharpening his tools and honing his skills at his adopted training base in Portugal.

However, Froch admitted that he doesn't think that will be enough, but categorically refused to rule out the upset.

"I think Tyson Fury's going to be a little bit too slick and out of the way for him," he continued.

"That height and reach is a massive advantage in boxing.

"Tyson Fury's got that height and reach on anyone he fights.

"He just makes it count and makes it pay and I just think he'll be too awkward and just too slick and he'll be able to get out of the way of Whyte's heavy blows.

"But if Whyte backs him up and pins him on the ropes in the corners and stays in close and rolls inside and gets to him and starts landing hooks and that...

"Who knows? It's heavyweight boxing. It's a two-horse race, and when it's two horses running around, anybody can win, something can happen, something can go wrong."
