It has been revealed that Emma Raducanu is a Tottenham Hotspur fan after images of her training in the club's home kit have gone viral on social media. The official WTA Twitter account posted some snaps of the British number one training ahead of the Stuttgart Open, sporting the 2021/22 Spurs jersey as part of her outfit. Both the Tottenham men's and women's teams have responded to the initial post featuring a video of Raducanu, which has been viewed more than 154,000 times since Monday morning."Hey @SpursOfficial, announce @EmmaRaducanu," the WTA wrote, alongside a winking face and a writing emoji. The Association followed up with some more images of the world number 12 during training in Germany, including one of her wearing a personalised 'Raducanu 10' shirt. "Love this," the official Spurs men's account wrote in reply, before quote tweeting on their own feed with the caption: "Things you love to see."

Lilywhites fans have joked about the images and are split between boasting about their newfound supporter and poking fun at themselves.

"Still has more trophies than us in the last decade," one user wrote, while another asked whether Raducanu is able to fill in for absent right-back Matt Doherty at right-back.

The Tottenham women's team also got in on the action and joked about getting the signing table out again after they recently announced that players Ashleigh Neville and Kit Graham, as well as manager Rehanne Skinner had all penned new contracts with the club.

It wouldn't be the first time Spurs would have announced a household name in a surprise signing reveal either.

In September 2020, the North London outfit shocked the Women's Super League by unveiling loan signing Alex Morgan.

The USA international, who has won two World Cups and an Olympic gold medal with her country, joined the club from Orlando Pride in a short-term move across the pond.

Raducanu's football allegiance

Despite being born in Canada and hailing from Romanian and Chinese descent, Raducanu grew up in London and made her international football allegiance known during the 2020 Euros.

After her Wimbledon debut, Raducanu swapped her tennis racquet for an England shirt as she backed the Three Lions. She also correctly guessed the 2-1 winning scoreline that saw Gareth Southgate's England side reach their first major final since 1966.

Raducanu ended Britain's 44-year wait for a female Grand Slam champion when she triumphed at the US Open last year. She is yet to recreate her historic win this season but will try her luck at the Stuttgart Open, where she will face Australia's Storm Sanders in her first match.
