Tennis star Naomi Osaka has shared a hilarious story about an electrician who mistook her for a minor when they came to her house. The four-time major champion, who turned 24 years old last October, is a world-renowned star and one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet. Yet, it seems there is still the odd person who isn’t familiar with the former world number one.

Osaka mistaken for ‘young’ girl

Taking to Twitter, the Japanese star explained how an encounter with an electrician forced her to feel young again.

“I never thought I was young until an electrician came to my house and asked me if my parents were home.”

Osaka expanded on this and revealed exactly what the electrician said to her.

“This is a nice house, what do your parents do?”, they are quoted as saying.

Fans react to Osaka’s story

Understandably, a number of fans found Osaka’s story amusing and some questioned how the electrician didn’t recognise the tennis icon.

One wrote: “Is he really from this planet?”

Meanwhile, others stressed that similar things had happened to them as well.

“Reminds me of when at a wine festival I was constantly asked to confirm I was over the age of 18 because of my short height... I was in my mid-20s then,” said one user.

Another said: “That happened to me also but I was in my 40s.”

Osaka returning to form

Aside from becoming more active on social media of late, Osaka has also returned to form on the tennis court.

Last year proved to be a struggle for the 24-year-old but she has seemingly regained confidence and reached the final of the Miami Open earlier this month.

However, the world number 35 has pulled out of this week’s Stuttgart Open with an abdominal injury and is yet to begin her clay-court season.

The exact time frame for her return is still unknown but it’s expected that Osaka will be back in action at some point in May.
