Manchester City succumbed to Liverpool in their FA Cup semi-final clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens were far from their best in the first-half and were 3-0 down at the break.

City battled back in the second 45 minutes but could not complete the comeback as they lost 3-2.

City's fanbase has come under criticism many times in the past few years.

And they have been criticised again following the semi-final at Wembley.

Despite the game being of the highest magnitude between two of the world's best teams, City failed to sell out their whole allocation for the game.

A significant number of empty seats could be seen in the City end. A huge banner featuring City’s crest was even placed in the upper tier of the stadium to make it look filled out.

There were no direct trains running from the north west to London on the day of the game but, despite the travel issues, Liverpool had no problems selling out their allocation.

TalkSPORT football correspondent and presenter Alex Crook has now laid into City for their failure to sell out their end.

He said on live radio: “Manchester City not selling out their allocation yesterday was a disgrace.

“I know there were travel issues form the north west but if Manchester United were here they would have sold their allocation twice over.

“When you get the underdogs come to Wembley, like [Crystal] Palace, they do tend to out-sing the bigger clubs. It was great to see.”

Darren Bent then tries to defend City, saying: “I’m guessing it was pretty easy for Crystal Palace to sell out their allocation. They’re in London, Man City are in Manchester."

But Crook was having none of it, replying: “It doesn’t matter. Manchester United come from Manchester, Liverpool come from the north west.

“Those two football clubs will sell any allocation that they’re offered at Wembley.

“The fact there were empty seats in the Manchester City away end… bearing in mind that 20 years ago this was a club that was playing Gillingham in League One for the right to get back into the Championship. I think it’s poor.”
