David Haye has given his analysis on Tyson Fury’s career and where he ranks amongst the all-time heavyweight greats as his fight with Dillian Whyte looms large.

Next Saturday night, in front of over 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, Tyson Fury will attempt to maintain his unbeaten pro boxing record when he defends The Ring and WBC heavyweight titles against Dillian Whyte.

While many consider him to be the strong favourite heading into the contest, there’s still a sense of caution in the air due to the power Whyte has displayed on many occasions throughout the course of his career.

Of course, on the flip side, Fury is often talked about as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers to ever live.

David Haye knows a thing or two about being a world champion and during an exclusive interview with GiveMeSport.com, he discussed the legacy of ‘The Gypsy King’ and how he compares to some of the sport’s best.

“I think it’s hard to put people in all-time records whilst they’re still active. It’s not really fair to do that as Ali or Larry Holmes, George Foreman, you rate them on their body of work throughout their career, particularly what happens when they get into their twilight years when they’re fighting younger and fresher guys. How did they deal with that?

“Once he’s retired, then you can figure out who he’s fought and how those fights went. He’s definitely up there for sure. If he retired tomorrow, what he’s done, the three fights with Deontay Wilder, fantastic, beating Klitschko.”

The one true king?

Haye, who was once scheduled to battle Fury, went on to tease that Whyte could be the man to give Tyson some problems.

“The way he did it as well, very impressive, coming back from what he’s come back from shows another element that would put him closer in the top 10. After watching him in his last two fights, it would take someone very, very special to be able to deal with that. It really would. I think Dillian Whyte is the perfect guy to test that.”
