Manchester United could look to sign Dusan Tadic as he would 'set the tone' while incoming boss Erik ten Hag implements his philosophy at Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

There is set to be a change in the dugout ahead of next season, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick due to shift into a consultancy role when the current campaign reaches its climax.

What's the latest news involving ten Hag and Tadic?

According to The Athletic, ten Hag is on the brink of being appointed as Manchester United's next boss after reaching an agreement in principle with the Red Devils.

The report suggests ten Hag, who is currently at the helm of Eredivisie giants Ajax, is set to pen a contract which will run for up to four years.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Dutchman will not be unveiled as Rangnick's long-term successor until a £1.6million compensation clause has been agreed between Manchester United and Ajax.

Tadic, who left Southampton for Ajax in a £10million deal close to four years ago, is clearly a huge admirer of ten Hag ahead of his switch to Old Trafford.

When speaking about his current boss, Tadic claimed ten Hag is 'one of the best in the world' and 'it is a pleasure to work with him'.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones has suggested ten Hag could look to be reunited with Tadic at Old Trafford as he looks to stamp his authority on the Manchester United squad.

While the transfer insider fears Tadic's best days may be behind him, he feels the 33-year-old winger's arrival could be pivotal in ten Hag being an immediate success in the Premier League.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "Tadic has got something, although I feel like if you were going to sign Tadic, you should have done it two years ago.

"But I still think there's something to be said for ten Hag signing players that can help set the tone for what he's trying to achieve."

Why would Tadic be a good signing?

Tadic has been on Manchester United's radar before, having nearly joined the club before opting to head to Southampton in order to link-up with then-Saints boss Ronald Koeman in 2014.

The 84-cap Serbia international has shown over the course of his career that he can be formidable in the final third of the pitch, with him racking up 397 goals and assists at club level.

Tadic has also demonstrated that he is capable of adapting to the rigours of the Premier League thanks to finding the back of the net 21 times in 134 Southampton appearances in the competition.

Getting his hands on five trophies since joining Ajax also shows that Tadic has a winning mentality, which could come in handy as ten Hag looks to make key adjustments at Old Trafford.
