Dean Jones reckons Erik ten Hag could look to sign Dusan Tadic to make a statement at Manchester United this summer.

The Dutchman is on the verge of replacing Ralf Rangnick in the Old Trafford dugout and Jones believes the 52-year-old could look to bring the 84-cap Serbia international with him to Manchester.

What's the latest news involving Tadic?

Once Ten Hag is confirmed as the next Red Devils boss, attentions will turn to the summer transfer window, where he'll be hoping to improve a squad that have struggled for consistency this season.

With United likely to miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time since 2018-2019, the current Ajax manager will be tasked with building a team that can not only get back into the top four but can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the title.

One man that could improve their chances of competing at the top is Tadic, who's played more games under Ten Hag than anyone else at Ajax.

Signed in the summer of 2018, the ex-Southampton attacker has contributed to an incredible 180 goals in 190 games, which has helped the Dutch giants win two Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups.

Therefore, with Ten Hag hoping to stamp his authority on the squad at Old Trafford, Jones believes that bringing in Tadic could be his way of making a "statement".

What did Jones say about Tadic?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think that he will want to make a statement by bringing in at least one player that shows what his style is all about and what it takes to be in that first-team, so perhaps Tadic is the one that emerges in that sense."

Does Tadic have a good Premier League record?

Tadic has broken all sorts of goal and assist records at Ajax in recent years and has clearly taken his game to another level since he left Southampton.

But he more than left his mark during the four years he spent on the South Coast, which should give United reason for optimism that he can replicate that form should he return to English football.

Tadic, who turns 34 in November, scored 21 goals, and laid on 30 assists in his 134 top-flight outings with the Saints, with more than 40 percent of those goal involvements coming in the same season when he helped Southampton qualify for the Europa League.
