The Formula 1 2022 season continues this weekend with a return to Italy for the Imola Grand Prix!

Imola had fallen off of the F1 calendar in recent years but a return during the pandemic-impacted campaign of 2020 has paved a way for it to return on a more regular basis and, indeed, this will be the third straight-running of the event.

If the Grand Prix is anything like the 2021 edition we're in for a treat, too, with the race last year providing some very memorable moments including Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton's duel off of the start line, and George Russell and Valtteri Bottas' high-speed collision, from which both were shaken but ok.

The first Sprint race of the season also takes place this weekend, too, as the new format returns for its second year and so we're all set up for a fascinating few days at the first event of the year in Europe.

Here, then, is the schedule for the weekend...

Friday

On Friday, we have a practice session and then qualifying, in the different layout that a Sprint weekend brings.

FP1 will take place at 12:30 UK time in the afternoon, before qualifying gets going at 4pm UK time, which will set the grid for the Sprint on Saturday.

Saturday

Saturday sees another practice session followed by Sprint.

FP2 begins at 11:30am UK time whilst the Sprint is at 3:30pm UK time in the afternoon, and is expected to last just shy of an hour.

The Sprint result will set the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix, with the top eight earning points.

Sunday

The Grand Prix gets underway at 2pm UK time, with 63 laps of the circuit scheduled.

It's the fourth race of the potentially 23-Grand Prix long season and it'll be great seeing F1 cars back at the circuit for another year.
