Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will work closely with chief executive Richard Arnold and current interim manager Ralf Rangnick as he prepares for an Old Trafford 'rebuild', according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Red Devils are preparing to enter a new era next season, with ten Hag set to be at the forefront.

What's the latest news involving ten Hag?

Ten Hag was unveiled as Manchester United's manager from the end of the campaign on Thursday, with the Dutchman penning a three-year contract which has the option of being extended by a further 12 months.

Fabrizio Romano previously revealed that ten Hag's appointment would be rubber-stamped after a £1.6million compensation package had been agreed between the Premier League giants and Ajax, where he is currently in charge.

It emerged last week, via The Athletic, that ten Hag was close to signing on the dotted line after reaching an agreement in principle to head to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag is clearly highly-regarded, having been described by Ajax captain Dusan Tadic as 'one of the best [coaches] in the world'.

Ten Hag won the double with Ajax last season, which was the second time he has achieved the feat, making him a leading candidate in the Red Devils hierarchy's eyes.

The 52-year-old boasts an impressive managerial record, having won 279 of his 432 matches at the helm.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about ten Hag?

O'Rourke believes ten Hag wants to play a key role in welcoming fresh faces to Old Trafford and approving departures.

As a result, the journalist feels the Dutchman will work closely with Arnold, who was appointed as Manchester United's chief executive earlier this year, and Rangnick if he moves into a pre-agreed consultancy role.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "He wants to be involved in the incomings and outgoings at Old Trafford, alongside Richard Arnold.

"If Ralf Rangnick is still there in an advisory capacity as well, I'm sure they'll all be working together to see if they can get the best players to Manchester United because it's going to take a bit of a rebuild at Old Trafford this summer."

Who could ten Hag look to sign?

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, Brighton & Hove Albion ace Yves Bissouma and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber are at the top of ten Hag's shopping list.

The report suggests Darwin Nunez, Kalvin Phillips, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger have also been identified as potential signings.

Ten Hag could be busy in the transfer window as Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant's respective contracts are set to expire this summer, meaning he could be forced to look for a host of replacements.
