Manchester United: Harry Maguire called out for lack of Paul Pogba support

It has been a season to forget for Manchester United.

After the early weeks promised so much following the arrival of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, their performances have flattered to deceive as they face the prospect of another trophy-less season.

While some of the players have given all they can to see United finish as high as possible, there are are others that just seem to have a real disconnect with the club.

One star in particular who continues to frustrate is Paul Pogba.

There can be no doubting that the French phenom is one of the most gifted players in the league but that just has never quite translated in the red of United.

Tensions with the midfielder reached boiling point over the weekend as he was booed by the home fans at Old Trafford, leading him to cup his ears as he left the park.

Now, United superfan Mark Goldbridge has spoken up, tearing into club captain Harry Maguire for his lack of support for Pogba.

Referencing how Maguire’s England teammates and managers rallied around him after he was treated similarly, Goldbridge questioned how Maguire could possibly remain silent on the issue.

“Are you not surprised by what I’m about to say here?” he asked in a recent video.

“Harry Maguire gets booed for England, within minutes his captain Harry Kane is coming out saying it’s not acceptable, the media is coming out saying it’s not acceptable.

“Paul Pogba gets booed at the weekend, Man United captain who has been in that position, radio silence. What’s that, I’m waiting to hear something from Harry Maguire, oh don’t worry it’s just tumbleweed going over this weekend.”

“Captain of Man United who’s been in that position, where he’s been booed, he’s got his mates in the media to make a big deal about it.

“Press conferences had Premier League managers being asked about Harry Maguire getting booed.

“His teammate, who he is the captain of, gets booed, he says nothing! Absolutely nothing. This is the guy that’s the leader of Manchester United.”

It seems fans have resonated with what Goldbridge had to say as well, with the comments sections ladened with agreement.

For Pogba, it just doesn’t look like he could possibly have any kind of future at United but, of course, this is something we’ve said before.

You would like to think that, after years of being linked with a move away from the club that Pogba will finally pull the trigger and part ways with the Old Trafford club this summer.
