Roy Keane was fuming with Manchester United's performance at Liverpool on Tuesday night.Well, actually, maybe quietly fuming is the more accurate description because you really did get the impression that United were so shocking at Anfield that it really left him broken in the studio.Gone were the red-faced rants where he looks like he's going to pop out of his seat at any moment and in were the mystified moments of contemplation at what his former club has become.

Roy Keane angered by Man Utd

However, as the Sky Sports pundits went about their breakdown of United's dire showing in the studio, Keane clearly had some particular players on his mind when diagnosing the problems.

Truth be told, there wasn't a single Red Devils player who could hold their head up high after such a damning 4-0 defeat, but it seemed as though certain individuals irked Keane more than most.

That's because the Premier League legend embarked on a cutting piece of analysis where he pulled approximately zero punches while talking about Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire.

Keane breaks down players who angered him

“This Manchester United team are well short on talent - they’re not as talented as they think," Keane coldly reflected in the studio. "Then not to have the rest of it to back it up, the fighting spirit, energy.

“Jesse Lingard is coming on to try and save Man United. Jesse Lingard should have left Man United two years ago. He’s not good enough.

“Rashford played like a child up front. OK he wasn’t getting service, but the one or two bits he got in the first-half when you think he’s in on goal, a poor touch.

“We were trying to help Maguire out before the match, give him a little bit of PR.

“The last goal, his passing and defending - not acceptable. Not good enough for Man United. Talk about a rebuilding job, they have to get players in first of all that are decent lads, good quality pros, talented.

“Man United fifth or sixth in the league. Unbelievable.”

An alarming time for Man Utd

Only Keane would phrase things quite like that, but there's no denying that Lingard, Rashford and Maguire were lightyears short of the expectations set of a United player.

The simple fact of the matter is that Ralf Rangnick's men are limping and labouring their way to a dreadfully low Premier League finish without even Champions League football to celebrate.

It really is staggering that United have slumped this far when you consider they are fresh from a summer transfer window in which they signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

So, regardless of whether you're wagging your finger at Rashford, Lingard and Maguire or other out-of-form players, the magnitude of United's crisis couldn't even be overstated by Keane himself.
