Thiago Alcantara's sublime highlights from Liverpool 4-0 Man Utd

It’s taken a little while, but Thiago Alcantara is now dominating English football.

The Spaniard’s first season at Liverpool after signing from Bayern Munich was sadly blighted by injuries.

Many football fans were actually starting to label Thiago as a ‘flop’, which now looks beyond ridiculous.

Since the turn of the year, the La Masia graduate has been in supreme form and he is a key reason why Liverpool are chasing an unprecedented quadruple.

Thiago was the best player on the pitch in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City and he repeated the feat against Manchester United on Tuesday in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old dropped a midfield clinic at Anfield that almost had Liverpool’s fierce rivals begging for mercy in their 4-0 defeat.

Thiago was absolutely everywhere and some of his disguised line-breaking passes from deep were outrageously good.

His performance also featured a plethora silky dribbles and some determined defensive work.

It was everything you could want from a midfielder and more.

But words can only go so far with regards to Thiago’s performance against United and visual evidence is also required.

So, sit back, relax and marvel at the maestro’s outrageous individual highlights from yet another memorable evening under the lights at Anfield.

No wonder Thiago received a standing ovation and an enormous hug from Jurgen Klopp – what an incredible performance!

It’s crazy to think that a player that good only cost Liverpool £25 million.

Thiago’s masterclass was rightly praised to the rafters on social media, while both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were drooling over his brilliance in the Sky Sports commentary box.

Jurgen Klopp also waxed lyrical about his midfield magician in a post-match interview with the BBC.

The German manager said: “He is a good player. We have to keep him fit. He has good rhythm, which helps. He is in the right spaces, the little turns and passes. We don’t have five million players like this on the planet.

“Only a few see things earlier than everyone else and also have the technical ability to get the ball there as well. A top game from him. Everybody was outstanding and that is what you need to win against Manchester United.”

Thiago really has added an extra dimension to Liverpool’s midfield and it has turned the Reds into an even more devastating footballing machine.

Getting the ball off Klopp’s side in midfield is harder than ever now and there are also five world-class forwards for opposing sides to be afraid of these days after the additions of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.

The quadruple is well and truly on.
