FIFA Ultimate Team database site FUTBIN has been sold to sports betting media group Better Collective for a staggering £86.5 million.

FUTBIN is probably the biggest and most informative database for EA’s massively popular FIFA Ultimate Team franchise. Its purpose is to provide everything you need to know about what’s going on in the world of FUT.

Its popularity has skyrocketed since its release in June 2014 – where its sole purpose was to help FUT gamers find the right prices in a fast and reliable manner. Since then, the site has evolved with many new features, such as a FUT players database, squad builder, calculator, squad analysis, market indexes, Draft mode and more.

According to reports, it has 50 million monthly visitors on its website and three million daily active users on its app – which shows the stature of FIFA Ultimate Team itself and just how many players are passionate about the game.

Now it has been made official that sports betting media group, Better Collective, have acquired FUTBIN and its related assets in a deal that’s worth $113 million (£86.5 million). The company have staggered the deal so that they will pay around $70 million (£53.6 million) in cash upfront, with the remaining amount coming through performance incentives paid over the next two years.

Who are Better Collective?

Better Collective describe themselves as a leading digital sports media group that develops educational platforms within the iGaming industry. Through their products, they aim to make sports entertainment more engaging and fun for the global network of online bettors.

They have managed to obtain over 750 employees, 16 offices and nine growth awards over their 18 years in business and this latest purchase appears to suggest they are looking to expand their horizons even further.

Why have they acquired FUTBIN?

The company sees this move as bolstering its esports offering. Better Collective now considers itself a “leading publisher in the esports media space” following the acquisition.

With the Esports market ever-expanding and growing – this acquisition is one that will see Better Collective thrive in their respected market for years to come.

As previously mentioned – this shows just how big a game FIFA has become. To have a database that has no actual affiliations to EA and the FIFA game itself sell for millions of pounds is crazy and shows that FIFA is much more than just a football simulator.
